Meet The Crew
We're not your typical wrench-turners. Every tech on our floor has certified training in high-voltage systems and we're constantly learning because this tech changes faster than you can say "kilowatt-hour."
                                    Marcus Chen
Lead EV Diagnostic Specialist
Been working on hybrids since the first Prius rolled through our bay back in '09. Now I'm elbow-deep in Teslas and Rivians daily - the tech's come a long way.
                                    Sarah Johansson
Battery Systems Tech
Specialized in battery pack diagnostics and thermal management systems.
                                    Raj Patel
Software & Programming
Handles all the computer programming and module flashing work.

How We Got Here
Started as a regular shop, evolved into something way more specialized. Here's the journey.
The Beginning
Started out as North Shore Auto Works, your typical neighborhood garage. We fixed everything that rolled in - Hondas, Fords, whatever needed work. But we kept seeing more and more hybrids showing up, and honestly, most shops around here weren't touching 'em.
Back then, hybrid work was still kinda niche and most techs were scared of the orange cables.
Going Deep on Hybrids
Made the call to get serious about hybrid training. Sent Marcus and two other techs down to California for intensive hybrid vehicle certification. Cost us a chunk of change, but it paid off fast. Within six months, we were the go-to spot on the North Shore for Prius battery work.
Hybrid repairs went from 10% to 45% of our business that year.
First Full EVs Roll In
Tesla Model 3s started appearing everywhere. Problem was, getting service appointments at Tesla was a nightmare and they weren't exactly cheap. We invested in proper high-voltage safety equipment, got Level 3 HV certifications, and started working on full battery electric vehicles. Game changer.
Installed our first 400V-rated lift and diagnostic equipment suite.
The Rebrand & Full Pivot
Decided to go all-in. Rebranded to Luma Method Odyssey and shifted our entire focus to electric and hybrid vehicles. Stopped taking conventional gas engine work (well, mostly - we'll still help out longtime customers in a pinch). Brought Sarah on specifically for battery diagnostics and Raj for all the software stuff.
Now 90% of our work is EV/hybrid related - exactly where we wanted to be.
Expanding Capabilities
Added thermal imaging cameras for battery pack analysis, upgraded our scan tools to handle the newer EV platforms (those Ioniq 5s and EV6s need specific equipment), and got approved as an independent Tesla service provider. Also started offering mobile diagnostics for customers who can't make it to the shop.
Invested over $85K in new diagnostic and safety equipment.
Today & Tomorrow
We're working on everything from first-gen Leafs to brand new Lucid Airs. The tech keeps evolving and we're staying ahead of it. Currently training on solid-state battery systems and the next generation of vehicle-to-grid setups. Pretty wild stuff compared to where we started.

Years ExperienceWhy We Do This
Look, EVs and hybrids aren't just "the future" anymore - they're right here, right now. And they need people who actually understand how they work, not just folks throwing parts at problems hoping something sticks.
We've seen too many customers get burned by shops that claimed they could fix their EV but really had no clue. Or worse, dealerships charging ridiculous rates because "it's specialized." Yeah, it's specialized, but it doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg.
Our whole approach is pretty straightforward: know the tech inside and out, invest in the right tools, don't BS customers about what's actually wrong, and charge fair prices. That's it. No magic formula.
